It doesn't offend me, and I read the same profile.  I don't think it's much of an excuse either...I just want to make sure you cover your ass is all.

Just as rape victims are dragged across the coals on the stand and have their character brought into question, so too will a good defense attorney bring into question whether their client was encouraged.

I have an 11 year old girl and 2 younger boys.  I makes me nauseated to see what some of these ass wipes say and want thses kids to do, because they could be saying it to my kid.  It makes me want to see them busted, jailed...but there's a wrong way to do it and a right way.  Would you want to see an 'iffy' bust come to court and have the perpetrator walk free?  I know I wouldn't.  That's why I think that whilst this site is great in it's intentions I think that the takedown's should be left to professional police officers and negotiators.

I will agree that some of the busts are iffy and No i wouldn't want to see them just walk off free and clear but that is what is happening with many of them because Police departments are not actively persuing online preditors in most areas. Most places the police won't do a d**ned thing unless the kids comes forward. The problem is most of these kids are so tramatised and scared that they never come forward until it is too late to prosecute the offender. I guess I'm just hoping that maybe these people can get the police departments to pay more attention to this problem.

As for PD's not doing anything...they are, trust me....it's just not publicized, and for obvious reasons.

The statute of limitations for child 'annoyance' or molestations is being revised.  CA's statue law is being argued in the Supreme Court...decision due by June 30th.  If it's passed, it will allow the state to prosecute a 74 y/o man for a 48y/o crime.  Changes are taking place, they're just not as visible as the PJ site is.

Be aware as well, that every time you log on as a teen user and try to snag a pervert you could be compromising the work the PD and FBI are doing.  Too many people doing it is going to make the pervs gun shy and the PD's job that much harder.

Would it be that hard for somebody to impersonate somebody they hate, flirt with a child enough to land them on that site and ruin their reputation?

It does, however, reinforce my decision to not let my 11 year old daughter have unsupervised internet access, or access to chat rooms - period.

Very true....especially after I checked out some of the "kids only" message boards and chat rooms on our ISP.....totally inappropriate for any child of mine....and no monitors to be seen......sad and scary.
