Just the everyday thoughts and observations from a nebraska woman.
We really need a new jail.
Published on May 5, 2005 By Nebraskawoman In Current Events
Well, the day is almost here. On Tuesday the 10th of May, the voters of Scottsbluff County will decide if we get a new jail. So far it sounds pretty split. But most of the people that are against it don't think of the people that work there. They are just thinking that the inmates get too much as it is. {I have to admit before working in the jail, I used to think like that. Working in this situation has changed my mind alot. It's a whole different perspective when you are the one having to face the inmates everyday and knowing that if they rioted, it would be your life on the line. } The inmates have little to do day after day but sit and think. I would rather let them play cards, read books and watch tv than having them sitting around making shanks to use against the guards.

I know that the chances of any of you being from our area or knowing anyone from this area is slim but I want your opinions please. Look at this Link and tell me what you think. I want to know what goes through peoples minds when they see the presentation and the other information on the site.

Remember that this new jail would make it safer, not only for inmates but more importantly for visitors and guards. After all the guards are the ones that stand between the inmates and the general public day after day.

Thanks guys. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Yeah, but unless we get new tvs too, all they get are these little 12 inch tvs without the remotes.
Thanks. I posted the whole article from the paper for you to read if interested.
Mason is welcome to our town anytime. I'll even try to get him his own tank.
