I went, and I read. I'm not sure what to think. I showed it to my husband (for the record, he's a cop), and he got the same feeling from it. It's a good idea, yes, and it's all legit and above board...but there's something I can't quite place my finger on with this site that makes me uneasy.
It does, however, reinforce my decision to not let my 11 year old daughter have unsupervised internet access, or access to chat rooms - period.
neither do i.
I know that you want to try and do the right thing, but be very, very careful about what you do/say. The legalities of doing that kind thing can be complicated.
I've read through a lot of the 'busts' on that site and some of them walk pretty close to the entrapment line. All it would take would be a better than average lawyer to blow the whole thing out of the water.
Just be careful.
Because they can say they were encouraged. When they say "You're a little too young for me" and the person posing as the girl says "oh, but I was having such a good time"...and the conversation carries on from there......like I said, it's not going to take too shit hot of an attorney to use that and plant a seed of doubt in a jury's mind.
For the record, I'm all for for the exposure, conviction and removal from society of pedophiles. I'm just not sure that this site is the best way to achieve that end. Speaking from a law enforcement/investigations standpoint, I'd have to say that there's something about that site that makes me very uneasy.
