Just curious
Published on February 23, 2005 By Nebraskawoman In Misc
I have been looking through different posts and was just wondering where everyone was from.
As you can tell from my name on here I'm from Nebraska. If you dont want to say the state just holler out what country you are from. I'm curious to see how many different cultures we have on here.
So here's one for the US. Where are you from if I may ask?

Around Western Nebraska Diamondbacks are all over during the summer. They have even started coming into towns because the drought that we have had these last few years are cutting back on their food. I had to kill several that were out in my yard last summer. That's a pretty good symbol though. I'll keep it in mind when I check out your blogs.

Here in Illinois rattlesnakes are rare. We have Timber Rattlers and Massasaugas (Very rare but have reportedly been spotted in suburban Chicago!). The ones I am scared of are the cottonmouths. They'll only be found in the extreme south of Illinois near the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and tributaries. Years ago my wife and I along with friends took a trip to the region to observe the birds and reptiles, and in a swampy area we came across two ill-tempered cottonmouths (aka water moccasins). I've heard stories of them behaving aggressively towards humans, so I cared not to tempt them.

Wow, Sturgee you've been all over the place.
Thanks for replying.
Thanks for making it clear for us Danny and for replying. Hopefully a few more will let us know where they are. It would be fun to see how diverse the JoeUser family is.

Bet anything he was/is in the military. During my time on this earth I've gotten around some. Some due to Uncle Sam, some due to wanting a change and some due to just plain stupidity. I've lived in PA (born and currently), Conn, NY, VA, FLA, AR, TN and CA. I have visited more states than I've lived in.

Eastern Diamondback: Thanks for the link. It was a pretty good article. I knew that that was considered once but I've never read anything that put the reasons why the rattlesnake should be used so well. It would be an awesome sybol. dont ya think?
Marcie: You enjoy the trip through Nebraska? Wow, we put most people to sleep with our fields and very few hills. But then again on the Interstate it's only an 8-9 hour drive though the state.
drmiler: I'm betting Sturgee is/was military too. You military folk get to travel much more then us average people. I've visited all over but only lived in three states, Nebraska (current) Wyoming, and South Dakota (born and raised). Thanks for responding to my question. I'm finding it pretty cool to hear where everyone is or has been.

Eastern Diamondback: I've only see one cottonmouth in my life. It was a viscious sucker too. I'm glad that I didnt run into it in the wild and it was just part of a display at our school about snakes. The handler was going to take it out of the plexiglass box he had it in but then changed his mind when it started striking at the glass.

I'm in Coogee, a beachside suburb of Sydney, Australia. In my time, I've lived in most states in Australia and even in Malaysia for a couple of years. My wife and I are planning on moving north as we get older. Neither of us like the cold weather much so look out tropics, here we come.

WAS in the military, and was also a military dependent growing up. But, my time in Afghanistan, and a year of the time in Korea were not in the military....

Born in Minnesota, moved to Arizona at 15. Lived in England for two years after my freshman year in college, back to AZ. After marrying a Utah girl, moved to SLC for a couple of years. Joined the Army, they sent me to Monterey, CA, then Texas.
Yikes.

thatoneguy: On Vacation? Sounds like fun.
dynamaso: you get alot of cold weather in Australia? Have fun in the tropics.
island_gurl: is that your island? it looks wonderful. Maybe I'll move down there.
Sturgee: wow, you lived in Afghanistan and korea without being in the military. I have friends who are there because of the military. How did you like living there?
singrdave: you've been all over too. it seems to surprise people when they think about where all they have lived.
Cactoblasta: I bet that is a change from Australia. Good luck with your studies.
Jamie: It seems like no matter how far we travel from home we always seem to come back. Doesn't it?

Thanks all of you for responding. I honestly didnt expect to get such a great response.

Well so far its 13 for the United States {with many of those being world travelers}.
Three for Australia and one island_gurl in Vanuatu. Maybe we'll get a few more but that's where we stand so far. Thanks again all.

well, from the name, you could assume that I have no home.  I currently reside in Tenn, though.  At heart, I'm a Texas girl.
