Signs you have lived in Nebraska too long..... {I don't quite qualify but it's close} ...you've been on television at least 3 times describing the sound of a tornado. {Nope, never been on tv to describe it but I could if I had too.} ...you take pride in knowing that on Saturdays, Memorial stadium is the third largest city in the state. { } ...you brag to other Nebraskans about being from Omaha. {Nope, havn't even been to Omaha. A friend sent me this joke a while back and I thought it was great. Hope none of the gals from Texas or Florida take offense though. NEBRASKA WOMEN One man was from Texas, one from Florida and one from Nebraska. They got acquainted and started talking about their problems with their wives. The guy from Texas began by saying "I told my wife clearly that from now on she would have to do all of the cooking. Well, the first day after I told her, I saw nothing. The second day I sa...

I was starting to feel like one of the prisoners. I have worked everyday for the last two weeks, a couple of those days I worked double-shifts (16 hours straight with only two 30 minute breaks). It was driving me nuts. I have today off though. I don't even feel guilty that I didn't anser me cell when they called. (They left a voicemail asking me if I would like to come in and work the day shift today.) I just worked 12 hours straight yesterday without taking my 30 minute break. I know that we...

This is for all of you that like the unusual. This series by Laurell KJ. Hamilton is just that. Here's a preview from the first book "Guilty Pleasures" in the series. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know if you do. This is one series where you don't know what to expect. My name is Anita Blake. Vampires call me The Executioner. What I call them isn't repeatable. Ever since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fan...

Ok, here is what is going on. I noticed some odd phone numbers on our cell phone. I knew from the time that the call was made that my husband was the one with the phone. Plus he spends alot of time in chatrooms late at night. He loves to go out to the bars and sing kareoke. But I sometimes work odd hours and don't have the energy to go out so I tell him that it is ok for him to go alone. He is usually online in a chatroom when he asks me if it's ok for him to go out. I got suspicious and I...

Does anyone else think that this is a little disturbing? I can't believe that they weren't concerned about this conviction just because it was in another country. I was watching Nightline last night and they were talking about blogging and the ethics/rules that might be missing. What do y'all think? Here is the article on their website: Blogger Influence Raises Ethical Questions Link NEW YORK Jan 21, 2005 — When Jerome Armstrong began consulting for Howard Dean's presidential campaign, he thought the ethical thing to do was to suspend the Web journal where he opined on politics. But to suggest others do the same with their journals, ot...

Anybody else wondering if there isn't something more important that these guys could be doing with the taxpayers money? While, I'm not really keen on having something implanted into my eyeball, I don't really see why they are banning the practice. I could understand maybe checking into the health standards for the clinics doing the procedure but aren't these done at medical clinics like plastic surgeons offices? Surely this isn't being done at some shop on the corner. Let me know what you thi...

This came out of our local paper. I can't believe that they are doing this. My opinion is that this is a little more goverment interference than we need. Senator looks to ban smoking Lincoln (AP)-- The Capital City already has banned public smoking and the Omaha City Council's efforts to curtail it were thwarted by the mayor, and now a state semator wants to ban smoking across Nebraska. Sen. Nancy Thompson of Papillion proposed the idea Thursday to the Health and Human Services Committe...

I have been looking through different posts and was just wondering where everyone was from. As you can tell from my name on here I'm from Nebraska. Yep, I'm starting to hate girl scout cookies. Dont misunderstand me, I love eating them but I have 341 boxes of girl scout cookies sitting in my living room right now. That's right 341 boxes. My daughter got to sell cookies for the first time this year and she set a record for this troop. I'm really proud of her. She set her mind to a goal and then broke that goal 3 times over. Now, I find myself wishing that she had stopped at the 100 box goal she started with. Especially when I have to c...
